CV will showcase playmakers on both sides of the ball
 
Abraham Navarro will direct the Central Valley High School varsity football team’s offense for the second consecutive year.
Central Valley High School's varsity football program had one of the most explosive offenses in the Stanislaus District in 2008, The Hawks averaged 28.1 points and 382 yards per contest.

This year's team could be just as productive-on both sides of the ball.

"We're fast," assistant coach Antone Lopez said. "We're athletic. We're big up front. We're more balanced everywhere. I think we'll be successful."

Ceres Seahawks rebuild
The Ceres Seahawks had a forgettable end to the 2009 Cen-Cal Jr. Football League varsity season.

Ceres appeared headed toward an easy victory against Merced before suffering a stunning collapse. The loss eliminated the Seahawks from playoff contention.

CHS boys, girls teams vying for postseason berths
Ceres High School's varsity boys water polo team finished the 2009 season on a positive note by winning three of its final four matches.

The Bulldogs believe the momentum will carry over to this year.

JV Bulldogs win
Ceres High School's junior-varsity football squad pitched a shutout in the first half and held on for a 21-6 victory over Ripon on Friday at Bulldog Stadium.

"It's a great way to start off the season," head coach Clinton Goblirsch said. "It was a total team effort."

Ceres quarterback Blake Hurst completed 9 of 19 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown.

CHS soccer squad competes at Pitman tourney
Ceres High School's new-look varsity boys soccer team finished in third place in Pool D at the Pitman tournament last week.

The Bulldogs compiled a 1-2 record at the 16-team event.

Bulldogs eye first season-opening win in over a decade
On Friday night, Ceres High School's varsity football team opens the 2010 campaign at home against Ripon.

The Bulldogs will try to end 12 years of futility. Ceres High's last season-opening win came against Sonora in 1997.

The Bulldogs dropped eight straight contests to Manteca before compiling an 0-4 record against Grace Davis.
