A storage shed and single wide mobile home unit were destroyed in a Wednesday morning, Sept. 3 fire at the Sunrise Mobile Home and RV Park in the 400 block of South Seventh Street.
The fire broke out at 5:41 a.m. and was fully involved when the first unit of firefighters arrived.
A total of five fire engines and two battalion chiefs went into an immediate mode of offense to tackle the fire.
Crews knocked down the fire and searched the trailer and remained on scene for the next 90 minutes on overhaul.
The county Fire Investigation Unit was on scene conducting an investigation into the cause and origin.
Modesto Fire Battalion Chief Ed Bartley said the building appeared to be boarded up but did not rule out someone was squatting in the unit.
Angie Avenue fire
In other local incidences, firefighters were in the area of Hatch Road at 12:35 p.m. and saw smoke coming from an Angie Avenue cabinet shop north of Hatch Road. When they investigated they learned that a commercial dust extraction machine caught fire outside the building. The fire was reported at 12:35 p.m. when smoke began pouring from a metal industrial building. The call was upgraded to a working commercial structure fire and additional firefighting units were dispatched. They quickly got the fire under control but found the fire had extended into the ductwork inside the business.
Crews took care to salvage and cover the woodworking machines and stacked lumber. Firefighters then removed a majority of the ductwork.
