Juan Carlos Garcia, 30, of Modesto, was arrested by Ceres Police Friday evening after he was stopped for expired registration but found driving a car that was stolen.

At 11 p.m. Officer Jesus Salinas pulled over the blue Honda Accord on Central Avenue at Hollister Street. He ran a license check noticed the vehicle hull number did not match the plate assigned to the vehicle. A check of the VIN revealed the car had been stolen in San Jose.

Garcia claimed he borrowed the car from a female friend and did not think the car was stolen since it came with a key. He was booked into the Public Safety Center for felony auto theft and possession of stolen property.
