A 36-year-old Modesto man was arrested by Ceres Police Monday evening on a warrant for his arrest relating to a charge of battering another person – and for the crack pipes found on him.

Police also added a charge to Federico Hernandez for lying about his true identity.

At 11:21 p.m., Officer Charles Lord-Huff was patrolling the area of Herndon Road and Grandview Avenue when he stopped bicyclist Hernandez for violating the vehicle code. Hernandez provided a false name to the officer. During a pat-down search, Hernandez was found with several glass pipes used for smoking controlled substances. Another officer arrived and recognized Hernandez for prior contacts. When his name was checked against the data base, the officers learned of the warrant for battery.

Hernandez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for possession of drug paraphernalia, providing officers with a false name and the arrest warrant.
