Kicking the outside wall of the Dollar Tree as he yelled and hit himself drew attention to 40-year-old Modesto resident James Gonzales who ended up being arrested on Tuesday evening, May 26 on a no-bail felony warrant issued by Merced County.

Officer Eric Gallegos was dispatched to the Dollar Tree on Hatch Road at 7:44 p.m. and found Gonzales who took off running.

Officer Kiashira Ruiz, who had also responded to the call, found the suspect hiding behind WSS Shoes.

Gonzales faces a new charge of obstruction of a peace officer.
