A 43-year-old Ceres man faces charges that he was in possession of meth which he allegedly packaged for sales. His arrest came during an early Saturday morning car stop after an officer watched him violate the vehicle code.
During the 1:28 a.m. traffic stop in the area of Hatch and Herndon roads, Ceres Police Officer Jacob Henn approached a Hyundai Elantra driven by Alejandro Serrato, 43, of Ceres. Henn conducted a search of the vehicle and found approximately 22 grams of a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine which was separated into three different plastic baggies.
Due to the amount of narcotics, Serrato was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.
A records check revealed that Serrato had more than two previous arrests for possession of a controlled substance.
He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales and possession of a controlled substance with two of more prior convictions.
