Committing a violation of the California Vehicle Code resulted in a Ceres Police officer on Sunday afternoon stopping a driver who was confirmed to be intoxicated.
At 1:40 p.m., Officer Samuel Garcia was patrolling the area of Louise and Whitmore avenues when he stopped Agustin Hernandez Vazquez, 50, of Ceres in his Toyota Corolla. Officer Garcia immediately suspected he was intoxicated and conducted field sobriety tests which Vazquez performed in a manner consistent with someone under the influence of alcohol.
Vazquez provided a breath sample that showed he was over the legal limit of alcohol to drive. He was booked on a charge of DUI at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
