A 44-year-old Ceres man was arrested Tuesday, charging him with intentionally running down a 38-year-old Oakdale man in June.

Jose Ayala, 44 of Ceres was booked on a charge of attempted murder relating to the June 20 incident at the intersection of Musick Avenue and Lucchesi Lane in Ceres.

Police were dispatched to the pedestrian collision at approximately 5:51 p.m. Witnesses said that the man was struck by an older model white-colored Ford Ranger, which had fled the scene.

The victim was later transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries.
