Ceres man faces Turlock drive-by shooting charges

A Ceres man was arrested after police found him with a loaded firearm in a vehicle reported to have been on the scene of a Saturday, Jan. 20 Turlock drive-by shooting.

Turlock Police were called at approximately 11:53 p.m. Saturday to the area of S. Orange and Lewis streets for a report of shots fired. A witness reported hearing multiple gun shots and a vehicle speeding off.

When she reviewed her video surveillance and saw what appeared to be shots fired from a black GMC SUV. Officers located casings and the witness informed an assisting officer that the vehicle drove past the scene.

Officers performed a high risk-stop on the GMC. Passenger Pablo Valdivia-Flores, 47, of Ceres, was detained. In plain view was a firearm near where he was seated. The gun, which had a live round in the chamber, was not registered to Valdivia-Flores. 

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a loaded unregistered handgun, carrying a loaded concealed weapon on his person, and willful discharge of firearm in a negligent manner.
