Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the murder of a 34-year-old Ceres woman at a South Ninth Street motel.

The victim, Natasha Irizarry, had been shot multiple times at the Driftwood Inn, 1024 South Ninth Street early Saturday morning. Several life-saving measures were unsuccessful and she died.

Sgt. Erich Layton said no other details about the incident will be released and would not confirm if a motive has been established.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
