A 30-year-old Modesto racked up more charges when he was arrested a second time in a week.
Jose Angel Cervantes was booked on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 5 for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
Police Officer Eric Souza was dispatched at 2:10 p.m. to 954 Big Creek Lane for a disturbance between a sister and her brother who had arrived at the residence in a green Chevrolet S-10 pickup which was a stolen that morning. The caller advised the dispatcher that Jose was still sitting in the Chevrolet parked outside the house.
Several officers arrived and found Cervantes at the front of the residence where he was ordered at gunpoint to get on the ground. As officers handcuffed Cervantes he stated that he took the truck just to wash it but when confronted about the truck being stolen he asked for a lawyer.
Officer Souza conducted a search of Cervantes and found a glass meth pipe with meth residue inside and a clear plastic baggy containing 1.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Cervantes was booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center where he had been booked and released on bail a week prior. His new charges are possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, probation violation, and committing a crime while on bail.
