A rear-end crash at Hatch and Herndon roads early Saturday was blamed on an intoxicated Atwater woman.

Officer Mathew Myers came across the 3:15 a.m. crash while on patrol. A Nissan Maxima, driven by Valerie Ochoa, 22, of Atwater, had rear-ended a Hyundai, which had stopped for a red light, at 35 mph. Officer Myers determined that Ochoa was intoxicated and arrested her for DUI.

Her passenger, Henry Garcia, 23, of Turlock, was found to have two warrants for his arrest issued by from Turlock Police and one from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested for the warrants.

Both sustained minor injuries from the collision.
