A child sustained minor injuries in a drunk driver car crash Saturday evening with the driver arrested.

The single-vehicle crash at Malik Avenue and Pompei Lane was reported at 5:27 p.m.

Officer Christian Diaz responded to the crash and in speaking to driver, Karla Phe, 30, of Modesto immediately suspected she was under the influence of alcohol. Phe underwent a series of field sobriety tests which she performed in a manner consistent with someone under the influence of alcohol. Phe was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples that showed her blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit to drive. Because a child was in the vehicle, in addition to the DUI charge she faces a charge of child abuse.

Phe was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
