Ordinarily committing a vehicle code violation in front of an officer results in a traffic stop and a citation before the driver goes about their merry way; but not if you have a warrant for your arrest, which is why Sher Singh, 31, of Ceres was jailed after his early Saturday morning car stop.
At approximately 12:37 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Angel Murillo was patrolling the area of Morgan Road near Seventh Street when he stopped Singh in a silver-colored Toyota Corolla for vehicle code violations. Officer Murillo made contact with Singh and learned through dispatchers that he was wanted for on a battery charge. Singh was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
