Driver in traffic stop had warrant and lied about identity
Jose Noriega
Jose Noriega

A 43-year-old Ceres man who was stopped for vehicle code violations early Sunday was jailed for lying about his true identity, probably because of the warrant issued for his arrest.

At 12 midnight, Ceres Police Sgt. Aaron Pinon was patrolling the area of Hatch and Mitchell roads when he stopped Jose Noriega driving a Ford F-150. Noriega provided a false name to Sgt. Pinon but through an investigation, Noriega’s true identity was learned as well as details about his felony warrant for a prior assault.

Noriega was arrested for the felony warrant and providing a false name and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
