A 33-year-old Modesto man who was on probation was pulled over last week and gave his brother’s name to an officer who arrested him.
At 10:22 p.m. on Friday, Officer Nicolas Welsh stopped a 1994 Honda Accord for an equipment issue and spoke to driver Shane Thomas who initially lied about his identity.
After looking through police records and finding a prior booking photograph, Officer Welsh determined that Thomas was lying about his name. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center where he faces charges of giving false information to a peace officer to avoid prosecution and a violation of probation.
