Driver's recklessness leads to DUI arrest

A 22-year-old Livingston driver was jailed early Wednesday, Aug. 24 when his speeding and reckless driving drew attention of officer, who then learned he was drunk.

Officer Barjinder Singh was on patrol at 1:39 a.m. when he saw a red Chevy Impala speeding and weaving in and out of traffic near the intersection of Mitchell and Fowler roads. Singh stopped the car and could tell that driver Kenny Vera had too much to drink. Officer Singh conducted a DUI investigation and blew into the breathalyzer to reveal a Blood Alcohol Concentration of was 0.14 percent. Vera was arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and DUI with a BAC of .08 percent or higher.
