Ceres resident Anthony Teixeira, 31, was jailed early Saturday when he was picked up for drunken driving and carrying a loaded handgun in his waistband.
At 12:53 a.m. Officer Charles Rushing saw Teixeira’s car swerving between lanes on Whitmore Avenue near Moffett Road. When Rushing pulled the car over he could smell alcohol on Teixeira who admitted drinking several beers.
When Teixeira stepped out of the car for a series of field sobriety tests and the officer began a pat-down search, Teixeira announced that he had a loaded firearm in his waistband.
Officer Rushing located a loaded .40-caliber Smith & Wesson semi-auto gun and removed it.
Teixeira failed the field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI and carrying a loaded concealed firearm.
