What would have been a simple traffic stop over expired vehicle registration evolved into police chase into Turlock Monday evening and the arrest of the 47-year-old driver.

At approximately 9:18 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Brian Chandler was patrolling the area of Mitchell and Service roads when he saw the expired license plate tags on a gray Ford Focus. Officer Chandler tried to pull over Kuldip Sangra, 47, of Turlock but decided to flee southbound on Highway 99 into Turlock. Sangra eventually pulled over in the 800 block of F Street in Turlock where he was arrested. Sangra was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading a peace officer.
