A 34-year-old Ceres man racked up his fourth drunken driving arrest in a 10-year period on early Sunday, July 2 after an officer heard him revving up his engine and nearly hitting another car.
At 3:05 a.m., Officer Freddie Ortiz was patrolling the area of Railroad Avenue and Kinser Road when he observed the erratic driving of Sergio Torres, 34, of Ceres. The officer saw a white-colored GMC Yukon lose traction, almost colliding with another vehicle. Ortiz caught up to the Yukon and pulled over the driver.
Torres appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. When he blew his lungs into a breathalyzer it showed he was over double the legal limit for an adult to drive.
Torres was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI, driving a vehicle with a suspended license for DUI and receiving a fourth DUI within a 10-year period.
