Police combed the area after a 12-year-old school girl reported that a stranger groped her and took off running but no suspect was identified or apprehended.
The sexual assault near Eastgate Boulevard and Helen Perry Road was reported at 7:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The Cesar Chavez Junior High School student said she was walking to a friend's house prior to school when a man came up to her and groped her. During the assault she was able to kick the suspect and break away and run to safety. The suspect fled the area on foot.
Police searched the area but could not find the man who was described as a dark-skinned Hispanic man, standing 5-foot-11, in his mid to late 20s wearing a dark colored beard, a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants.
Ceres Unified School District sent an alert to parents of students to advise them of the incident.
