A Thursday evening car stop made by Ceres Police Sgt. Michael Vierra ended with the arrest of two occupants and the seizure of drugs, drug paraphernalia and illegal weapons.
The stop of a Honda Civic was made at approximately 10:35 p.m. in the area of Musick and Nadine avenues because of vehicle code violations. During the stop, Sgt. Vierra contacted driver Otoniel Valencia, 26, of Modesto and passenger Emily Simkins, 19, of Ceres.
A search of the car turned up a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, a glass pipe used for smoking meth and ammunition.
Police say that Simkins had discarded two firearms and one loaded magazine which belonged to Valencia. One of the firearms was identified as a “ghost gun” since it lacked a serial number.
Valencia was arrested on charges of carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of an undetectable firearm, possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Simkins was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an undetectable firearm, destruction of evidence, and carrying a loaded firearm in public.
