When Ceres Police checked out a homeless camp set up in a vacant lot in the 2600 block of Moore Road Thursday morning, a discovery was made of a chop shop whereby two stolen vehicles were being dismantled for parts.

At 9:37 a.m., Officer Eric Souza accompanied the Ceres Police Code Enforcement Unit to the location and found David Hensley, 54, of Modesto, actively removing engine parts from a dismantled GMC Sierra. Also stripped of parts was a Cadillac Escalade pickup. Police found parts including hoods, doors and bumpers to both vehicles in piles near the vehicles.

Hensley was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and operation of a chop shop.
