A 20-year Hughson man found more trouble with the law on Monday afternoon when he was stopped in his car and found with over two pounds of processed marijuana and a warrant for a prior robbery.
At 3:33 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Welsh was patrolling the area of Whitmore Avenue and Moffett Road when he stopped Julian Jimenez Ramirez, 20, of Hughson who committed code violations in his Audi S4. Officer Welsh learned about Ramirez’s arrest warrant and made the arrest.
After finding the marijuana, a charge of possession of marijuana for sales was added. Ramirez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
Ramirez was arrested in February after he led police on a high-speed pursuit, resulting in a harrowing crash that tore the cab loose from a Jeep pickup in the intersection of Service and Pioneer roads near Hughson.
Miraculously the suspect and the driver he struck, Wayne Whitfield, 57, of Hughson, both walked away from the wreckage. Police found approximately five pounds of marijuana which police say was packaged for sales. Charges from February included evading police in a vehicle, fleeing the scene of an accident resulting in injuries, resisting arrest, driving without a license and possession of marijuana for sales.
