A 27-year-old Ceres woman with a criminal history of stealing was again behind bars last week after she allegedly shoplifted $19.94 in stolen merchandise.
Employees of Walmart called 9-1-1 at 10:54 p.m. on Dec. 8 reporting that a woman had just ran out of the store with stolen items and was running westbound on Hatch Road. Sgt. Trenton Johnson located the suspect in front of Valley First Credit Union just northwest of Walmart and detained her. Samantha Cagle, 27, of Ceres, was positively identified as the thief. Cagle at first lied about her name as she was on probation for a prior burglary conviction.
Cagle was arrested and charged with shoplifting, providing a false name to police and probation violation.
