Joshua Torrez, 22, of Modesto, was taken into custody on Monday evening, Jan. 12 for allegedly doing drugs after locking himself in the restroom of Starbucks, 1427 Herndon Avenue.

Police were called at 5:30 p.m. by Starbucks personnel after the suspect locked himself in the bathroom for about an hour and would not respond to knocks nor open the door. Officers came and knocked on the door and three minutes later Torrez unlocked it and appeared. They found a small amount of heroin and small piece of plastic on the floor. Torrez denied using drugs in the bathroom and said they were not his. Because he had symptoms of being high, Torrez was arrested for being under the influence of an illegal substance. He also was charged with violation of probation.
