A 33-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon for smacking his child’s mother in the car while he ran into a parked vehicle while driving.

The incident happened at 12:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Walmart.

Officer Christian Izquierdo learned that Luis Antonio Hernandez, 33, was driving in the parking lot when he was involved in a verbal altercation with the woman and struck her and in doing so collided with another vehicle. The victim suffered injuries.

Hernandez was arrested and booked into jail at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of corporal injury to a spouse along with an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
