A 28-year-old transient was arrested Thursday morning as he was rummaging through a vehicle in the Ceres Pro Tow impound yard and helping himself to items inside of it.
At 11:48 a.m. an employee of the towing company at 1800 E. Whitmore Avenue called police to report a male jumped over the cyclone fence and was looking through vehicles.
Officer Matt Myers was patrolling nearby and was directed to a Honda Civic near the front gate where Christopher Acosta was sitting in the driver’s seat.
Acosta admitted to rummaging through several of the vehicles and was in possession of a jar taken from one of them.
Acosta faces charges of trespassing, petty theft, vehicle tampering and possession of stolen property.
