A 33-year-old Modesto man was arrested Thursday evening after he refused to stop for the Ceres Police officer trying to pull him over for vehicle code violations.

Officer Christian Diaz was patrolling the 1600 block of Hatch Road at 8 p.m. when he attempted to stop Juan Esquivel Gomez driving an Acura TL. When he failed to stop, a slow-speed pursuit occurred through a shopping center and continued to evade. Police learned that Gomez was driving on a license suspended for a prior DUI conviction and had two warrants for his arrest, both for DUI.

Gomez was arrested on charges of evading police in a vehicle, driving on a license suspended for DUI and two warrants and booked into the county jail.
