A 30-year-old Modesto man pulling a stolen trailer attempted to elude Ceres Police by running from them Sunday evening.

At 7:11 p.m., Officer Tyler Wilson observed a Chevrolet Tahoe pulling a black trailer parked at the gas island at George’s Gas & Grill at Central and Caswell avenues. He conducted a records check and learned the trailer was stolen and bearing another license plate.

The driver, Giovanni Ramirez Mendez, was inside the business but fled on foot when he saw the officer was interested in him. He was apprehended a short time later and arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and displaying false registration on a vehicle.
