Man stopped for violating vehicle code is arrested for auto theft

Pedro Leiva Lopez, 25 of Modesto was arrested by Ceres Police on Thursday evening, Jan. 23 after he violating the vehicle code in a stolen Honda Accord and was pulled over.

At 8:03 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Kevin Gallenkamp was in the area of Pecos Avenue near South Ninth Street when he watched Lopez make an illegal move in a grey-colored Honda Accord. Officer Gallenkamp stopped the driver and learned that the vehicle was reported stolen.

Lopez was arrested on charges of auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle and was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
