A 33-year-old Ceres man hoped he could outrun police early Friday morning on his motorcycle but he thought wrong. He was finally apprehended in a Modesto neighborhood and now faces multiple charges.
At 1:10 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Kevin Roseen was patrolling the area of River Road and Central Avenue when he saw a rider if a black-colored Kawasaki motorcycle speeding and attempted to stop the motorcycle. However, rider Jeremy Gooch, 33, of Ceres sped off and the pursuit was on.
Gooch steered onto northbound Highway 99 and quickly exited at the Hatch Road exit. As the motorcycle began traveling westbound Hatch Road, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s helicopter crew joined the pursuit to track the suspect and allowing officers to back off temporarily and trail the pursuit at safe speeds. In the area of Boone Way and Elm Avenue in Modesto, Gooch laid the motorcycle down and fled on foot. The additional officers who arrived were directed by the overhead Stanislaus County Sheriff’s helicopter crew to the 1500 block of Moccasin Drive where Gooch was arrested.
During a search of Gooch’s pockets, Officer Roseen located three baggies of a crystalline substance believed to methamphetamine. He was arrested for evading in a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
