A 61-year-old male driver from Modesto was arrested in Ceres Wednesday evening, June 19, on a number of drug and gun charges.

Ceres Police Officer Nicolas Welsh was patrolling the area of Hackett and Morgan roads at approximately 6:52 p.m., when he observed a maroon-colored Saturn speeding. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with driver Russell Gorham. Officer Welsh located a loaded firearm and illegal narcotics in the vehicle and learned that Gorham had an active warrant for his arrest.

Gorham was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges including being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale, being in possession of a controlled substance while armed, and an outstanding warrant.
