A 24-year-old Modesto woman was arrested and booked for felony hit-and-run after she struck a female pedestrian on South Seventh Street in south Modesto.

The crash was reported at 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18. The driver responsible for the crash was nowhere to be found.

Cheryl Spangler, 48, of Modesto, was found lying on the west dirt shoulder of S. Seventh Street south of Blankenburg Avenue suffering from major injuries. She was rushed by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center.

The California Highway Patrol investigated and tracked down the driver, Magali Sevilla and arrested her on March 25. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

Investigators identified the car as a gray-colored 2011 Honda SUV. It was traveling southbound on S. 7th Street when the right front hit Spangler and knocked her into the dirt shoulder on the west side of the street.

Assisting in the investigation was the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force (StanCATT).
