Two persons were arrested early Saturday when a Ceres Police officer spotted a pickup that had been stolen.
At 12:56 a.m., Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the area of Herndon Road and Joyce Avenue when he spotted a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado with Arizona plates. He ran the license plate through his mobile data computer and learned that the vehicle was a U-Haul vehicle stolen from a Modesto dealer.
Souza stopped the vehicle at Highway 99 and Crows Landing Road, where driver Amanda Snuffer, 33, of Modesto was arrested for auto theft and possession of the stolen vehicle. Her passenger Travis Garcia, 35, of Modesto was later booked after a warrants check revealed he was wanted by the State Parole system as a parolee at-large.
During booking at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, officers located suspected narcotics on Garcia, thus he was booked for smuggling contraband into a jail facility.
