Ceres Police stopped a 37-year-old Modesto motorcycle rider from jumping into the swift and frigid waters of the Tuolumne River as his intended escape path at the end of a Sunday evening pursuit.
Police believe that Ruben Juarez, 37, of Modesto wouldn’t yield to a Ceres Police officer because he was driving on a suspended license.
The chase began at 7:40 p.m. when Officer Jesus Salinas attempted to pull over Juarez in the area of Nadine Avenue and Bystrum Road for vehicle code violations. When Juarez accelerated the chase was on. The pursuit went onto northbound Highway 99 and after a few miles Juarez abandoned the motorcycle and ran toward the Tuolumne River near Zeff Road but was quickly apprehended.
Juarez was arrested on charges of evading police, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
