Three young males were arrested on a variety of charges early Tuesday, March 11 after a Ceres Police officer observed them speeding and driving recklessly in Ceres.
At approximately 1:32 a.m., Officer Jacob Henn was on patrol near Highway 99 and Whitmore Avenue when he saw a white Honda speeding in excess of 100 mph and weaving erratically across multiple lanes. Officer Henn was caught up to the vehicle and made a traffic stop.
During the traffic stop, Officer Henn established probable cause to conduct a search of driver Luis Chavolla, 20, of Keyes and the vehicle. The search turned up an unregistered loaded firearm. Chavolla was arrested as were his passengers, James Mendoza, 18 of Modesto, and a juvenile. All three face various charges, including reckless driving and weapons violations.
Chavolla and Mendoza were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, while the juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall.
