Reports of mailbox tampering leads to arrests of two women
Jessica Fernandez and Alvarez Godinez
Jessica Fernandez (left) and Jacqueline Alvarez Godinez were both arrested in Ceres on different charges.

Two women were arrested in Ceres early Tuesday, Aug. 15 on various charges after a citizen reported them attempting to open mailboxes in the area of Joseph Lane and Vineland Lane.

At 2:58 a.m., Officer Samuel Garcia checked the area and located two women standing near a Chevrolet Impala. One of the two women, Jessica Fernandez, 41, of Modesto, walked into a nearby home while a records check showed the vehicle was reported as stolen.

Fernandez and Jacqueline Alvarez Godinez, 24, of Waterford, were seen coming out of the house a short time later. When the officer ordered both to stop, Godinez did but Fernandez walked away but was detained.

Fernandez was arrested and booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

Godinez, who had three warrants for her arrest, one being for felony possession of stolen property, gave the officer a false name. She was booked on the warrants and a new charge of providing officers with a false name.

Both Godinez and Fernandez were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
