Running stop sign prompted car stop in which drugs were found

A 60-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening after he was found with suspected methamphetamine during a car stop which originated when he ran a stop sign at Morgan Avenue and Nelson Way.

At 5:08 p.m. Ceres Police Sgt. Michael Vierra saw driver John Scott blow through the stop sign in a black Mercedes Benz and initiated the car stop south of the intersection. Scott was found to be driving without a license and was arrested. A search of Scott turned up the suspected narcotic. He was charged with driving on a suspended or revoked drivers’ license and possession of an illegal substance and was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
