The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department’s Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the 2022 homicide of a 25-year-old woman in the Modesto Airport district just across the Tuolumne River from Ceres.

Detective Wyatt put out a call last week for the public to contact them regarding any information to share about the murder of Stephanie Fagundes of Stockton.

Detective Wyatt can be reached at 209-525-7091. Tipsters choosing to remain anonymous can contact Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 1-866-602-7463.

Albert Gonzalez, 41, of Modesto was charged with the murder in November after deputies and the SWAT team served a search warrant on his property for assault with a deadly weapon and located her partial dismembered and burned remains on the site.

An anthropology team from California State University Chico assisted with the collection and examination of the human remains.

Fagundes’ family had last talked to her in October and had reported her missing shortly after.
