A stolen U-Haul van was recovered Saturday morning by a Ceres Police Officer who spotted it as the driver entered onto Highway 99 and an arrest was made in Modesto.
At 6:07 a.m., Officer Kevin Roseen was patrolling the area of Highway 99 and Fourth Street when he spotted the U-Haul van entering the northbound Highway 99 onramp. Officer Roseen followed the van and awaited additional units to join him. They conducted a high-risk stop at the IHOP restaurant at 2098 W. Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto. Driver John Johnson, 46, of Modesto was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and vehicle theft.
A search of Johnson yielded a white powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked at the Public Safety Center.
