Three persons were arrested Wednesday evening, July 10 after Ceres Police took them out of a stolen car at gunpoint.
The incident occurred at 10:57 p.m. when Officer Eric Souza recognized a Daewoo Nubira as he was atop the Hatch Road freeway overpass and followed it traveling up the freeway and get off at the Ninth Street exit. The car was found in the 400 block of Hosmer Avenue and the three occupants were called out. They were driver Shaun Hughes, 36, of Modesto, and passengers Jesus Lopez, 26, of Ceres and Shelby Harmon, 23, of Modesto.
Lopez initially gave the officer several false names but his real identity was later confirmed which revealed he was on parole and had two felony warrants for his arrest.
Additionally, records checks revealed Hughes was also on parole and Harmon was on probation.
All three were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Hughes faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and a parole violation. Harmon was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and a probation violation. Lopez was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, providing a false name to officers and violating the terms of his parole.
