Three Ceres residents have been arrested and charged in a shocking case of alleged child abuse and neglect.

Ceres Police were made aware of a nude boy running in the area of Hatch Road and Richland Avenue at around 1:39 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26. The boy, who was autistic, was bound at the wrists and found in front of Cost Less Foods. Officers also noticed visible injuries on his ankles and believe he may have been tied up there as well.

Paramedics were called and the boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

During the police investigation, the juvenile’s mother, 36-year-old Leandra Renteria of Ceres, arrived in a search for her son. Officers learned that Renteria had a 12-year-old autistic girl at her nearby home in the 1600 block of Richland Avenue. Officers conducted a welfare check and found the girl was safe in the home, but living conditions were substandard.

Renteria was arrested along with Gary Wilson, 58, and Lenore Wilson, 54, all of Ceres. All three face charges of child abuse and neglect and were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

The children have been placed under the care of Child Protective Services.
