A police chase which started in Ceres and ended in Livermore ended with the arrest of a Turlock felon early Saturday.
Ceres Police Sgt. Jon Blount was on patrol in the area of Mitchell and Roeding roads at 12:22 a.m. when he spotted a red motorcycle speeding southbound on Mitchell Road. He noticed the motorcycle didn’t have a license plate. Sgt. Blount attempted to stop rider Nathan Sharp, 33, of Turlock, at Service Road but he accelerated southbound on Mitchell Road and entered southbound Highway 99. With Blount traveling at a high rate of speed, Sgt. Blount backed off and radioed for other agencies to intercept him, which resulted in the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s helicopter quickly getting in position to track the suspect while coordinating with the California Highway Patrol.
The pursuit ended in Livermore where Sharp crashed and was taken into custody. After being medically cleared at a hospital, he was picked up by Ceres Police and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for felony evading of a peace officer and violating the terms of his probation. Sharp was on felony probation for assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and felony evading.
