Two men face burglary charges for allegedly breaking into Cosmo Prof at 1560 Hatch Road the day after Christmas.

On December 26, at 2:29 a.m., officers responded to an alarm and report of glass being shattered. Officers arrived within a minute and found the broken glass. After quickly reviewing surveillance footage while officers canvassed the area Officer Angel Murillo then searched the parking lot of Western Dental and found Maurice Povio, 38, of Modesto who matched the description of one of the men. After he was confirmed as a suspect, he was arrested for the burglary and arrested.

Police continued to follow up an investigation to locate the second man the next day, Dec. 27.

At 2:47 a.m., Officer Murillo spotted a red Nissan pickup believed to be involved in the burglary and stopped the driver in the area of Seventh and Main streets. Jamie Castaneda, 38, of Modesto was arrested on burglary charges. During a search of Castaneda, Officer Murillo located suspected heroin and methamphetamine.

Castaneda was booked on charges of burglary, possession of heroin and possession of methamphetamine.
