An18-year-old and 17-year-old Ceres teens were both shot twice in the legs during an alleged drive-by shooting in the 2600 block of Don Pedro Road on Monday evening.
A 911 call was placed at 7:11 p.m. with many officers and firefighters responding from the City Council meeting. When they arrived they found the 18-year-old on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. They learned that a 17-year-old boy had also been shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital by a friend.
The males said they were walking westbound on Don Pedro Road when they heard gunshots from behind. Both victims were struck. The 17-year-old managed to get away from the area and called a friend for help.
A dark-colored sedan was seen leaving the area after the shooting.
Police scoured the area of evidence and found no shells.
Ear witnesses say they heard up to six rounds. Sgt. Jose Berber said the weapon could have either been fired inside of a car with shells ejecting into the cabin or the weapon could have been a revolver which does not eject spent shells.
Both victims were released from the hospital the next day.
Ceres Police Detective Art Hively is encouraging anyone who witnessed the shooting or anyone who may have information about the incident to call him at 538-5728 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
