Brian James Williams (left) and Justin Hess were arrested and charged with animal cruelty after allegedly stabbing a dog to death after it killed a cat in Ceres.

Police arrested two Ceres men for allegedly stabbing a dog to death with a knife after it had attacked and killed a cat Thursday morning.

Justin Hess, 30, and Brian James Williams, 52, both of Ceres, were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of animal cruelty.

Police were called at 7:27 a.m. with reports of the dog killing in the 2000 block of Shushan Drive. Officer Chandler responded to investigate and learned that both Hess and Williams became upset that a dog in the neighborhood had killed a cat so they tracked it down and allegedly killed it with a knife.
