Wanted parolee Jose Padilla, 37, of Modesto, was picked up by Ceres Police early Thursday after someone reported his suspicious activities around a vehicle in the 3700 block of Mitchell Road.

The reporting party called police at 2:18 a.m. thinking vandalism was taking place. When Officer Samuel Becerra investigated he found Padilla, who admitted he was checking the vehicle to see if it was unlocked. Officer Becerra checked Padilla for warrants and learned that he had an active no-bail parole warrant. 

Padilla was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
