A 32-year-old Modesto driver was arrested for DUI Saturday evening after someone reported him weaving on the road with sparks were coming from his tires.

At 10:09 p.m., Officer Lydia Prieto was summoned to the area of Whitmore Avenue and Rockefeller Drive on a citizen report of the suspected drunk driver. She located the van and spoke to its driver, Vidal Orejel, 32, of Modesto. Orejel appeared to be intoxicated and was given a field sobriety test which he demonstrated in a manner consistent with someone under the influence of alcohol. Orejel was arrested for DUI, and later gave a breath sample that was over triple the legal limit for an adult.

Orejel was also found to be on probation and was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI and a violation of probation.
