Winton man arrested for auto theft in southwest Ceres

A 61-year-old Winton man was arrested Friday morning after Ceres Police caught him driving a stolen Ford F-150 pickup in southwest Ceres.

At 4:56 a.m., police officers were patrolling the area of Service Road near Morgan Road in search of the stolen vehicle seen in the area. Sgt. Aaron Pinon located the pickup near the intersection of Montclaire Drive and Farm Supply Drive. Once additional officers arrived to assist, driver Meliton Hernandez, 61, of Winton was taken into custody.

He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.
